The church of St. George stands at Didi Tsereti, a part of the area around Tkhinala village. Didi in Georgian means big, and gaghma means on the other side: that is how the far part of the village across the valley is told apart.
The area lies on the uplands south of Gori, where villages are scattered far apart along the slopes. A church of the Mother of God of the same Didi Tsereti stands a kilometre away.
Regular services may not be held, and the church can be approached at any time. The roads here are unpaved, so dry weather makes the drive easier.
