The shrine of St. Barbare stands on the uplands near Tkhinala village in the south of Shida Kartli. Barbare is the Georgian name of St. Barbara, and travellers turn to her on the road here.
A church of the Virgin of the same area stands a few hundred steps away, so the two churches are visited together. The Kilikes Jvari shrine rises three kilometres to the north.
The shrine can be approached at any time. Candles and modest offerings are left here, gifts of others are not touched, and the place deserves careful treatment.
