The church of the Mother of God stands at Didi Tsereti, a part of the area around Tkhinala village. Churches of the Virgin in Georgia are named after a feast or simply Ghvtismshobeli.
The area lies on the uplands south of Gori, away from the main roads. A church of St. George of the same Didi Tsereti stands about a kilometre to the west.
Regular services may not be held, and the church can be approached at any time. Modest clothing is appropriate, and the interior deserves careful treatment.
