The ruins of the church of the Virgin Mary lie on a low hill at the confluence of the Algeti and Bzi rivers, on the right bank, in the Manglisi area of Tetritskaro Municipality. This was a hall with a semicircular apse set into a plan close to a rectangle, about eight metres by five.
The walls, some eighty centimetres thick, are laid of rubble of varying size, smooth stone, sandstone and porous tuff on lime mortar. The inner face is set mostly in rubble and smooth stone, the facades are faced with unevenly worked porous tuff, and the space between the layers is packed with rubble and mortar.
The vault and the roof have collapsed entirely and the walls survive only in places. The interior is filled with rubble, and the ground around the east, north and west sides has risen noticeably. The eastern part is the best preserved: the walls stand about two and a half metres on the inside and a little lower on the facade side. Sources assign the building to the late Middle Ages.
