The church is dedicated to Saint Nino, the enlightener of Georgia. This is the fourth and westernmost church of Shilda: about two kilometres separate it from the eastern church of John the Baptist.
It stands at the edge of the village, where the fields and vineyards begin. Shilda lies at the foot of the Caucasus range in the Kvareli part of Kakheti, and from the western edge the whole line of mountains rising above the village is clearly seen.
There is no fixed schedule of services and the site can be approached at any time. This is a convenient place to begin or end a walk through the village: the four churches of Shilda fit into a single route from west to east, about an hour on level roads. The rules are those of any working church.
