The church of Saint George in Shilda in Kvareli Municipality stands on the site of an old village cemetery and forms a single whole with a three storey tower: square in plan, almost five metres to a side, it is set against the church from the west and bonded to it by the masonry.
The building is laid of rubble stone and cobble on lime mortar, and brick went into the work as well. There are two entrances, on the north and south, and one more door is cut in the west wall and leads into the tower. A semicircular apse with an arched window on its axis closes the sanctuary: one arched niche sits to the right of the opening and two to the left, one of them semicircular in plan, and an altar table stands in the centre of the apse.
Arched windows are set in the long walls as well, a rectangular niche is made below the north one, and the hall is covered by a full vault. In the tower, rectangular niches sit in the north and south walls of the ground floor, while paired loopholes are made in the middle of the south, west and north walls on all three storeys, with one more at each end of the east wall. The complex is assigned to the 18th century.
