Ghvtaeba is a dedication rather than the name of a locality: the word means the Divine, and in the Georgian tradition churches of the Lord are called so. Another church of Shilda carries exactly this name.
The church stands in the central part of the village, about a kilometre west of the church of John the Baptist. Shilda lies at the foot of the Caucasus range in the Kvareli part of Kakheti, and from this church the other two churches of the village are less than a kilometre away in either direction.
There is no fixed schedule of services, but the site can be approached at any time. Its central position makes the church a convenient starting point for walking the village: from here the eastern and the western churches are equally close. The usual rules apply: covered shoulders and knees, quiet inside.
