In Georgia a salotsavi means a place of prayer: a small structure or a marked spot where people come to pray outside a service. This salotsavi carries the name of St. George.
Patardzeuli lies on the Kakheti plain away from Sagarejo, at the foot of the Gombori range. The village is large and holds three shrines of St. George at once: the village church about seven hundred metres away, a church of the same dedication bearing the name Dreidzi three kilometres off. The village also has the church of Shio and a second Sunday chapel.
One dedication shared by three neighbours is easy to confuse, so on the ground follow the coordinates. Places of prayer are rarely locked and can be approached at any hour. Dress modestly, and leave the candles where others set them before you.
