The Trinity church of Katsareti stands near Khashmi village. It is mentioned as a cathedral and as a monastery alike, and its second name is that of Khashmi, the nearest village.
It is about four and a half kilometres from Khashmi itself, and three village churches are left along the way: the basilica of St George, the church of St Nicholas and the church of St Marine. Kakhetian hills lie all around, and beyond them rises the Gombori ridge, crossed by the road to Telavi.
This is a monastic place, and the rules are stricter than in village churches: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet, and photography only by permission. The gates of the house are not opened every day, so if you are coming from afar it is sensible to find out in advance whether it will be open.
