The Kavta Mother of God church is a church on the hills north of Kakabeti, in the Kavta locality. There are two churches here, standing some thirty metres apart, the Mother of God and St. George: a pair sharing one hill, one clearing and one view over the Kakhetian valley.
Such a neighbourhood is a find for lovers of quiet discoveries: a climb into the hills, the last stretch on foot, and at the top two churches at once instead of one. The way from Kakabeti takes a quarter of an hour, and with every bend the valley opens wider.
The churches are seen freely, with ordinary courtesy: a quiet voice and modest dress. The climb is better planned for dry weather: the dirt road grows heavy after rain, and the path on the last stretch turns slippery.
