Chkhikvta Sameba: Lava Stones, Church and Panoramas
Chhikvta Sameba, or Gmirta Nakveti, is a cone-shaped hill, on the crest of which stands the Church of the Holy Trinity.
Tourists' attention is attracted by the huge, upright lava blocks that enclose the church on both sides. The local volcanic blocks do not differ from similar lavas that make up the plateau of South Georgia.
There are many legends associated with these blocks. One of them says: "Sameba and Davi (evil giant spirit) argued for a long time, who should belong to this wonderful peak. In the end, Sameba agreed to keep it, but on the condition that Davy could build a wall around the top of the mountain one night before the rooster crowed. Davie felt that he could not do such a job alone in one night and called his sister for help. She stood on the opposite high mountain, which was strewn with large boulders, and from here she threw them to her brother. Davy caught the huge stones and stacked them on top of each other. The wall was built quickly and was soon ready on both sides. When Sameba saw that Davie was doing well, she tossed up a red cloth, which turned into a rooster. The rooster immediately screamed, and Davie, feeling defeated, ran away. Sameba fired an arrow at him. The arrow hit the wall of the fortress of Birtvisi. People say that the arrow marks are still visible on the fortress.
On the north-western slope of Chhikvtas-Sameba, in the valley of the Algeti River, near the village of Tbilisi, there is the Algeti Reservoir, its length is 3.7 km, width 0.4 km, the total volume of water is 65 million cubic meters.

Tetritskaro Municipality, territory of Chikhikta village; right side of the Algeti River valley; at an altitude of 1,196 meters above sea level.

How to get there:
A 1 km stone road leads from the Tbilisi – Tetritskaro highway. The road passes through forest and then continues uphill. In good weather, access is possible by high-clearance vehicle. Distance: from Tbilisi — 60 km, from Tetritskaro — 5 km.
