The church of the Mother of God stands in Tkviavi, a large village of Gori Municipality. The building is a plain village one, yet a parish keeps to it.
It is about three kilometres from here to Tirdznisi with its own Mother of God church: the two villages lie side by side in the border strip west of Gori, and their churches share one dedication. The country is flat and the roads between villages are short.
