The church of the Mother of God stands in Biisi village of Gori Municipality. Churches of the Virgin, called Ghvtismshobeli in Georgian, are the most numerous in the country after those of St. George.
Biisi lies in the hills southwest of Gori, on the road that runs from the Ateni gorge towards Boshuri. The village church of Bobnevi and the church of the Virgin at Ormotsi stand nearby.
Regular services may not be held, and the church can be approached at any time. Modest clothing is appropriate, and candles and offerings are left in their places.
