The domed church of the Mother of God is one of the two sanctuaries of the mountain village of Tiseli. What sets it apart from the second one, the hall church of the Assumption, is the dome itself, rare for small village churches.
Tiseli hides in the mountains where the Aspindza, Akhaltsikhe and Borjomi areas meet, far from busy roads. The way here is a journey through the remote slopes of Samtskhe in its own right.
The church is not always open, though the exterior can be viewed freely. The villageโs another church is about seven hundred metres away, easy to see both.
