The church bears the name of the Gujriskhevi gorge in which it stands. Khevi means gorge in Georgian, and such names are common in the mountains of Samtskhe.
From the church complex of Tadzrisi village it is about two kilometres uphill. Dense forest and streams running down to the Mtkvari valley surround the place.
The church keeps no fixed hours; the exterior is viewed freely. The path is steep in places, so bring shoes with good soles.
