The Pkhero church site is the place of the old church of Pkheri village on the slopes north-east of Adigeni. The building itself is long gone, yet the place lives in the memory of the area, and underfoot lies a layer of quiet history typical of Samtskhe: traces of churches on the slopes with no signposts leading to them.
The reward for the climb: a panorama of the Potskhovi valley, village quiet and the sense of a place where spiritual life ran long before the present roads. A good pair to the neighbouring villages of the valley with their working churches: the past and the present of one area in a single call. The climb from the village road takes some ten minutes.
The place is open and can be approached at any time: there are no buildings and no services here. The slope asks the travellerโs usual care: stones are not moved and no traces are left.
