The church site in the Sviri forest lies northwest of Sviri village in Akhaltsikhe Municipality. The spot is completely overgrown: trees and shrubs have risen right where the church once stood.
Local people have built a chapel niche here from hewn stones gathered on the site. Around it, at various spots in the forest, the remains of an old wall are visible.
The site is a cultural heritage monument of Georgia, which places it in the Middle Ages, the span from the 4th to the 18th century. Another church site of the village stands in its centre, and both spots can be covered in one walk.
