The church site in the centre of Sviri marks the place of the old church of this village in Akhaltsikhe Municipality. The traces of the building have been erased and a heap of stones is all that is left of it.
Several chapel niches survive among the rubble, laid with carved and decorated stone. A gravestone and a large fragment of a second one lie nearby.
The site is a cultural heritage monument of Georgia, which places it in the Middle Ages, the span from the 4th to the 18th century. Another church site of the village is hidden in the forest northwest of the houses.
