Two monuments stand side by side near Kvitkiristskaro village and are known together: the church of St George and the Petre tower. Towers of this kind were built in Kartli as dwellings and watchposts, and they often ended up next to a church.
The district here is wide and thinly settled: the nearest neighbouring shrine, the church of St George in Zemo Kodistskaro, stands about three kilometres away, the ruins of the church of St Barbara a little further, and the church of the Archangels at Mchadijvari almost four.
Both monuments stand open and there are no gates. Approach the tower with care: the old masonry holds poorly and it is better not to climb inside. At the church the rules are the usual ones: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet.
