Only ruins are left of the church of the Mother of God in Vardisubani: the walls partly stand, the roof is gone, and no services have been held for a long time.
The village lies north-east of Dmanisi and is rich in shrines: there is the Dormition church, the Abulmugi complex, a monastery and the site of the old Didi Kviratskhoveli church. The name Vardisubani is common in Georgia, and a vanished village of the same name lies near Tsalka, some forty kilometres away, but that is an entirely different place.
There are no regular services and the place is open. A tip for the road: the two Vardisubani lie in different municipalities, so it is better to go by the coordinates than by the name.
