The church dedicated to Queen Tamar stands in Tamarisi village, and the name of the church echoes the name of the village. Whether one comes from the other is not explained in the district, yet the echo is heard at once.
The village lies east of Bolnisi, on the plain. The second Tamarisi shrine, the church of St George, stands a little over a kilometre away, and three kilometres off, by the highway, is the convent dedicated to Queen Ketevan.
There are no regular services, and visits are arranged with local people. The parish is alive, and on the patronal day it gets busy here.
