The church of St Sarkis in Nardevani belongs to the Armenian tradition. Sarkis, known in other languages as Sergius, is venerated as a warrior and martyr, and churches of his name were built across the south of Georgia, where Armenian communities lived for centuries.
Nardevani lies on the Tsalka plateau, west of the town of Tsalka. The village is modest in buildings but rich in holy places: besides this church there is the Surb Saroi chapel, a church of the Mother of God, and half a kilometre away the Lusakhpyur chapel. All four can be walked in a single round.
There are no regular services here, and the church can be approached at any time. Inside it is usually empty and quiet, and the old masonry deserves care.
