The church is dedicated to Saint Demetre, and it is the last church of the Sakdrioni cluster. All four churches of the village carry different names or dedications: the Seven Brothers, the unnamed one, Saint Barbara and this.
Sakdrioni lies east of Tsalka, on the high plateau of Kvemo Kartli, and remains the densest church cluster of this part of the region: four churches within six hundred metres. The name of the village comes from the word sakdari, meaning a church, and lives up to it entirely.
The church has round the clock access and can be approached at any hour. The rules are those of any working church: covered shoulders and knees, quiet. All four churches can be walked in half an hour, and the plateau is open and windy, so bring a windproof layer even in summer.
