The mosque stands in Sakdrioni, about four hundred metres from the church of Saint Demetre in the same village. The village name comes from the word sakdari, church, which makes the proximity of mosque and church especially telling.
Tsalka Municipality lies on a high plateau where different communities settled over centuries, and the make up of the villages changed noticeably in the twentieth century. Today Orthodox parishes and Muslim prayer buildings stand side by side in the area. The altitude and open relief make winter here long and windy.
Agree any photography inside with the community, as shooting without permission is not accepted. The site remains part of the everyday life of the area, and that deserves respect.
