The chapel of Saint Demetre was built by the people of Avranlo themselves in the nineteen nineties. It is a hall like building with a semicircular apse on the east and a roof covered with sheet metal.
There is no architectural complexity here and none was intended: the chapel was put up quickly and by hand, so that the village would have a place to come to its saint.
Chapels like this appeared in Avranlo one after another in the last decades of the century, about a dozen in all. They stand in different corners of the village, mostly on private plots, and each keeps its own dedication.
