The chapel of Saint Nicholas stands in the western part of Avranlo, not far from the old bridge over the Ktsia. The Ascension chapel stands nearby, a little further along the bank, so both can be seen in one go.
The building was laid of roughly worked stone in the late twentieth century. The entrance is made on the south side, the roof is covered with sheet metal and there is no dressing.
The old bridge serves as the main landmark here: a whole group of village shrines has gathered around it. Avranlo holds about a dozen chapels in all, nearly all built by the villagers in the last decades of the century.
