This church is called differently by different people, and the difference is substantial: some know it as a church of the Transfiguration, others as a chapel of Saint Dimitri. Neither the dedication nor the type has settled, and both versions have their place here, so both are named.
It stands about two hundred metres from the other church of Avranlo, the one whose name sounds Greek. Together they form a small cluster in the village on the Tsalka plateau, north-east of Tsalka, by the road to Rekha.
There is no fixed schedule of services and the site can be approached at any time. Both churches of the village can be walked in ten minutes. The plateau is open and windy, colder and snowier in winter than the valleys, so the warm season is easier for a trip and clothes should be warmer than the forecast suggests.
