This is a Lutheran church, and in this part of the catalogue it is the first non-Orthodox one. It stands in Asureti, a village known as a former German colony: German families settled here, and the church was their parish.
The trace of the colony is still visible in Asureti, above all in the layout: straight streets and houses with high gables stand out sharply from an ordinary Georgian village. Asureti lies in the Tetri Tskaro district of Kvemo Kartli, between Marneuli and Tetri Tskaro, and it is the most visited church of the Kvemo Kartli part of the catalogue.
The church keeps no schedule of services, and the access arrangements are best checked locally: the building is not always open. Inside and in the yard it is customary to keep quiet, and photography is better without flash. The village is small, and a visit together with a walk through the streets takes about an hour.
