The church is dedicated to Saint Nicholas and stands in the ordinary built-up part of Manavi, among the yards. It differs fundamentally from the second sanctuary of the village: the church of the Womens fortress is inseparable from the fortress complex higher up the slope, while this one remains a parish church of the village.
Manavi lies north-east of Sagarejo, on the slope of the Gombori range, by the road that runs over the pass to Telavi. The fortress rises above the village some six and a half kilometres away, and the climb to it takes about half an hour.
There is no fixed schedule of services, but the village is lively and it is usually possible to step inside. The usual rules apply: covered shoulders and knees, quiet. It makes sense to combine both places in one trip: first the church in the village, then the climb to the fortress, for which closed shoes are needed.
