The church of Saint Marine stands in the western part of Babaneuri and completes the round of church buildings in the village: four here, all with different dedications.
Saint Marine, known in the western tradition as Margaret of Antioch, is widely venerated in Georgia. In neighbouring Matani, west of Akhmeta, a whole complex of buildings carries her name, and near Melaani in the south of the region the ruins of another church survive. Babaneuri lies east of Akhmeta, right at the entrance to the Alazani valley.
A village church may keep no fixed schedule; service times are learned on site. The church stands by an unnamed road in the western part of the village. Dress with shoulders and knees covered, a headscarf for women.
