The Deity church stands in Maghraani. The Georgian word ghvtaeba translates as Deity and marks a dedication to God in His unity rather than to an individual saint. Such dedications are characteristic of Kakheti, where several Deity churches are found.
One of them stands in neighbouring Babaneuri, only a couple of kilometres away, and carries exactly the same name: they are told apart by the name of the village. Maghraani itself holds two more church buildings, Sarimtsava about a kilometre away and the Tsamebuli church in the upper part; the word tsamebuli means martyr. The village lies east of Akhmeta, where the valley meets the foothills.
The doors are opened during the day and evening, though for a village church this is a habit rather than a schedule. The usual rules apply: covered clothing, quiet, a headscarf for women.
