The Kvashveti church stands in the northern part of Ziari and completes the round of church buildings in the village: three here. The name appears in two spellings at once, Kvashveti and Kashveti, and both are in use.
This is another church of that name in the area: the other two stand in Vachnadziani and in the rural part of Gurjaani. None of the three is connected with the famous Kashveti on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi; the coincidence is explained by how widespread the toponym is. The other two sites of Ziari are the church of Saint George and the church of the Virgin, a hundred and thirty metres apart.
A village church may keep no fixed schedule; service times are learned on site. Dress with shoulders and knees covered, a headscarf for women, and speak quietly on the grounds.
