The church is dedicated to Saint George and is known by the name Lomisi. That name occurs more than once in Kakheti, and it should not be confused with the salotsavi of the same name on the steppe south of the region or with the famous shrine in Mtianeti: the dedication here is named outright, and this is an ordinary village church.
Ziari lies five kilometres north of Gurjaani, on the edge of the Alazani valley. The church stands away from the main street. The village is small yet holds several sanctuaries: besides this church there is a Kviratskhoveli and two further church sites, so all of them can be walked in one stroll.
There is no fixed schedule of services and the site can be approached at any time. The village lies on flat ground and the roads are easy. If you are driving the Tbilisi, Telavi, Gurjaani route, the detour takes a quarter of an hour and combines well with a stop in Gurjaani itself.
