The church of Saint George stands in Ziari. The place carries a second name referring to a neighbouring locality: it exists in two forms, Usaneti and Usareti, and neither can be called the single correct one. Such variation is ordinary for local names.
Ziari lies south of Gurjaani, in the foothill part of the region, reached by a road unpaved in places. Besides the church of Saint George the village holds two more buildings: a church of the Virgin barely a hundred and thirty metres away and the Kvashveti church in the northern part. The latter name echoes the Tbilisi Kashveti, but there is no connection between them.
A village church may keep no fixed schedule; service times are learned on site. Dress with shoulders and knees covered, a headscarf for women, and speak quietly on the grounds.
