This is the only monastic site of Patara Chailuri: the other three sanctuaries of the village are parish ones. The community is dedicated to Saint George, while the second word in the name, Kopale, is not decoded by local tradition, and guessing about it is pointless.
The monastery stands in the northern part of the village, not far from the second unnamed church. Patara Chailuri lies on the plain west of Sagarejo, among fields and pastures; the Gareji steppe, which begins to the south, is not far off.
The community is active, so the rules are stricter than in a village church: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet in the yard. Photographing the brethren is not done, and it is better to ask before photographing the buildings. The four sanctuaries of the village are easy to cover in one trip.
