The church is dedicated to Saint George, the most frequent name among Kakhetian village churches. It stands in the built-up part of Kolagi, among the yards, and serves as the chief landmark of the village.
Kolagi lies on the plain south-east of Gurjaani, by the road running towards Tsnori and Sighnaghi. The neighbourhood holds three churches: this church, the church of Saint Mary two and a half kilometres to the north, and a small Archangel church right by the road, between Kolagi and Chalaubani.
There is no fixed schedule of services, but the village is lively and it is usually possible to step inside. The rules are those of any working church: covered shoulders and knees, quiet inside. All three churches of the neighbourhood can be driven round in under half an hour, and the roadside church needs no turning at all.
