The chapel of the Virgin stands in the eastern part of Kolagi, about a kilometre from the church of Saint George in the village. A chapel, samlotsvelo in Georgian, is smaller than a church and has no permanent parish.
Kolagi lies south of Bakurtsikhe, away from the main highway of the Alazani valley, among the fields. To the north, on the highway between Gurjaani and Tsnori, stands Bakurtsikhe with two churches: one of Saint George and one of Saint Barbara. The name Bakurtsikhe reads as the fortress of Bakur, though the stronghold itself has not survived.
The grounds are open around the clock, which for a small building means free access rather than opening hours. Dress with shoulders and knees covered and treat the chapel with care.
