The church is dedicated to Saint Mary and stands in the northern part of Kolagi, about two and a half kilometres from the Saint George church of the village. The dedication is confirmed by every version of the name, so it raises no doubt.
Kolagi lies on the plain south-east of Gurjaani. Together with the roadside Archangel church standing between Kolagi and Chalaubani, the neighbourhood gathers three churches, all of them visible from the road or very close to it.
There is no fixed schedule of services and the site can be approached at any time. It makes sense to see all three churches of the neighbourhood in one trip, moving from south to north along the highway: that way the drive takes under half an hour. The rules are those of any working church.
