The church of Saint George stands in Kolagi, a village south of Bakurtsikhe. Dedications to Saint George so dominate Kakheti that a search has to rely entirely on the village name: the immediate area alone holds about a dozen such churches.
Kolagi itself has another church building, a chapel of the Virgin in the eastern part, about a kilometre away. The village lies away from the main highway of the Alazani valley, among the fields; to the north, on the highway between Gurjaani and Tsnori, stands Bakurtsikhe with two churches of its own.
The grounds are open around the clock and the church can be approached freely. Dress with shoulders and knees covered, a headscarf for women, and speak quietly on the grounds.
