The village lies in the Alazani valley north of Telavi, among fields and orchards. In neighbouring Akhateli, less than a kilometre away, stand Orthodox churches, so places of prayer of different communities sit side by side here.
Guests are welcome, though it is better to come outside prayer times. Shoes come off at the entrance, clothing is modest, women need a headscarf, and filming inside is best agreed in advance.
