A parish church of Saint George, the church of the upper half of the village. Simoneti, like a good half of the Imeretian villages of this belt, splits into an upper and a lower part, and the prefix zeda marks the upper one.
The village is raised along the slope above the valley north-east of Zestafoni. It is important not to go wrong here: Zeda Simoneti has two churches with the same dedication, and the second stands about three kilometres to the south. The lower part of the cluster holds a third holy place, the church of the Archangels in the Kozhi quarter. The century of building is not established.
The parish is active and services follow the church year. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. Before setting out it is worth knowing which of the two Saint George churches you are heading for.
