A parish church of Saint George, the only one in the village. The dedication is the commonest in the country: the saint is honoured twice a year, in spring and in late autumn.
The village name is built on the same model as naeklesiari and nasoplari: the prefix na points to a former state while the root venakhi means vineyard. Navenakhevi is the place where vineyards once stood, and names like these tell the history of land use better than any paperwork. The village lies north-east of Zestafoni, in the foothills. The century of building is not established.
The parish is rural and services are infrequent. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. If the doors are locked, ask about the time in the village.
