A church of the Most Holy Mother of God carrying a second name: deda ghvtisa, literally Mother of God. That is not a separate dedication but an invocation, by which Georgian villages name their churches more often than by a formal title. We unpacked the same case at the Dilikauri church near Zestafoni.
The church is known by Eto Ekhvevi yet stands in the surroundings of Speti, in eastern Imereti. Speti and its area hold several holy places: the chapel of the Upper Saviour on the slope, the Lower Saviour in the village and a wooden church of Saint George in the cemetery. The century of building is not established.
The parish is rural and services are infrequent. Dress modestly, women wear a headscarf. All the churches of the area are easy to cover in one trip.
