A holy place dedicated to Saint George whose status is described in different ways: it is referred to both as a parish church and as the Darkha monastic house. The difference matters, since a house implies a community and a rule while a parish church does not, so we name both variants and assert neither.
The village of Darka lies in eastern Imereti, closer to Sachkhere, in a hilly belt above the valley. One thing is worth saying separately: this is not Darkveti, a neighbouring village with a similar name that also has a church of Saint George. The villages are different and the names so alike that a navigator mistake comes easily. The century of building is not established.
What you will find on site, a parish or a monastic order of the day, is best asked about in the village itself. Either way the usual rules apply: covering clothing, a headscarf for women, quiet.
