Neither a name nor a dedication has become attached to this church: it is known simply as the church of Tsaghvli village. It is not the only building here; a second stands about a kilometre to the north, closer to the upper edge of the settlement.
Tsaghvli is one of those villages of Kareli Municipality that appear in official papers more often than in guidebooks. Hills, orchards, narrow lanes and quiet: the ordinary landscape of this part of Shida Kartli, where church buildings outnumber what the present population requires.
Come with realistic expectations: no signs and no attendant ready to give a tour. In return you get what people travel to rural Kartli for. Dress soberly and treat the walls with care.
