The church carries the name of St. George and stands at the southern edge of Nabakhtevi. The village holds a density of Christian buildings rare for this part of Shida Kartli, and this church makes a convenient start for a circuit heading north.
Such a concentration usually means the village was large and old, with several communities and patrons. About a kilometre and a half separates the outermost churches of Nabakhtevi, and covering it on foot is more pleasant than by car: the road runs through village housing with orchards and old fences.
Allow about an hour for the village. The Marian basilica and the church of John the Baptist stand in the centre, and a Resurrection church lies further east.
