The monastery carries the name of Kodmani village and stands in the wooded hills of western Shida Kartli. It is one of the communities of the monastic cluster here.
The area lies south of Khashuri, above the Kura valley, and the road climbs here from the plain through narrow gorges. The Orkhevi, Kvatetri and Tbeti monasteries stand nearby, so the surroundings make up a short pilgrim circle.
Modest clothing is appropriate in the monastery, and women may want a headscarf. Photography and attending services are best agreed with the residents.
