The Kvatetri monastery stands in the wooded hills near Kodmani village in the west of Shida Kartli. The name reads directly: kva means stone and tetri means white.
The area lies south of Khashuri, above the Kura valley, and is full of monastic communities: the nearest neighbours, the Orkhevi and Kodmani monasteries, stand about a kilometre away.
Modest clothing is appropriate in the monastery, and women may want a headscarf. Photography and attending services are best agreed with the residents.
