A village church stands in Gaichaantubani in the west of Shida Kartli. Sources disagree on the dedication: some call it the church of Peter and Paul, others the church of St. George, and the village itself will say more precisely.
The area lies south of Kareli, in the hills above the Mtkvari valley. Villages with similar names are scattered along the neighbouring slopes, all ending in tubani, meaning a quarter or part of a village.
Regular services may not be held, and the church can be approached at any time. Modest clothing is appropriate, and candles and offerings are left in their places.
