The church of the Mother of God stands in Didi Khavleti village in the west of Shida Kartli. Locally it is known by the name of the village, without the word didi.
A chapel of St. George of the same village stands half a kilometre away, and the naeklesiari of Patara Khavleti lies eight hundred steps off. The area lies north of Khashuri, in the hills above the Kura valley.
Regular services may not be held, and the church can be approached at any time. Modest clothing is appropriate, and candles and offerings are left in their places.
